Why Canvas?

Canvas printing has been traditionally used for artistic purposes due to its strong, hard wearing and natural qualities.

Originally canvas was made from hemp, however modern canvas is now generally created from linen or cotton and comes in different weights and grades.

Canvas is a popular choice for displaying prints instead of traditional photographs because of its feel, texture and strength. Canvas has a pleasant texture, which can bring photographs to life in a multi-dimensional way.

Canvas has always predominantly been by oil painting artists, that is why printing directly onto canvas provides the feeling of an oil painting. Light reflects differently off canvas to photographic paper and reduces any glare like you get with photos or glass photo frames.

Canvas prints are stretched onto wooden frames, that provides a 3D quality to the image from the wall it is displayed on.

Canvas prints offer much more flexibility when it comes to choosing your preferred dimensions and can be printed larger in sizes then a standard photo without distortion.

Canvas prints are much lighter than standard photo framed images, so they are easier to display. One image can be split over several canvases to make a display over a larger surface area.
